Meeting Minutes February 2, 2010

 

Meeting held at MPSTOC called to order by President Ryan at 0837hrs

 

Board Present:            President Ryan; Vice President Rooney; Directors Regan, Masiello, Kelly, and Johnson

 

Also Present:               Stan Earl, Mark Schroeder, Brian Edmonston

Membership Report:   Currently 229 members

                                   

New Applicants:         Tom Carver; Mike Snapp; William Vannoy; Chris Sampl

 

Motion made by S. Earl to vote on the applicants and accept them as a block, seconded by M. Regan.  Motion Passed unanimously.

 

Treasurer’s report presented.  Motion by S. Earl and seconded by J. Masiello to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented.  Motion passed unanimously.

 

Human Relations Committee (S. Hemingway):

  • Attended IAFF Human relations Conference in Florida

 

OSH Committee (J. Iacone):

  • Apparatus concerns

 

PLT (M. Regan):

  • Discussed budget at last meeting.  Mike reiterated our position about being unable to support any further reductions in within the supervisory ranks.
  • Discussed 2015 Police and Fire Olympics.  We may want to engage early on this matter as help from all entities within the department will be needed.

 

Old Business:

  • Association challenge coins are still available from either M. Regan or J. Goff.

 

New Business:

  • President Ryan briefed the group on the pending litigation from the Lorton incident of May 2007.
  • Seminar scheduled for 10/7-8 2010.
    • Tysons Marriott w/ similar cost structure from last year
    • Todd Leduc from Broward Florida
    • Mark Emery from Oregon
    • John Tripp from LA (tentative)
    • Need a fourth speaker

 

L-2068 EMS Work Group (R. Kendrick):

  • Please review any and all administrative changes made to the EMS manual as they will impact all on-scene supervisors’ responsibilities.

 

FY11 Budget:

  • President Ryan and Director Kelly briefed the membership on the current budget situation and the FY11 outlook. 
  • Situation is bleak with the threat of personnel cuts looming.
  • President Ryan stated that we will maintain our position of opposing any further reduction to the supervisory ranks without first examining some of the larger funds that support only select segments of employees.
  • County Exec is scheduled to present his “first look” budget to the BOS on 2/23; we will await that presentation prior to taking any further action.
